We organize the Rotary inter-school debating contest annually in Cape Town. Since 1989, over 60 schools have participated in this Rotary-sponsored and administered project, which has promoted public speaking among learners in Grades 8 through Matric. Our goal is to instill leadership, interpersonal influence, team building, group problem solving, and oral presentation skills in our young people, all of which are essential 21st-century competencies. The project was established by the late Gerald Kleinman of the Rotary Club Signal Hill and the late Neil Sempill of the Rotary Club of Cape Town.
