2026 District Mini Rotary Foundation Conference at Somerset West

Five crew attended. Captain Hamilton commented briefly on his impressions in his Captain’s Log above. Mymoena’s feedback: “For me, the conference was a reminder of the difference The Rotary Foundation makes in helping us turn good intentions into meaningful action. It is not just about funding projects; it is about understanding what our communities need and finding ways to make a lasting difference.

As a Club, we have already seen what is possible through our grant projects. I believe we should build on this experience, share what we learn with our members and encourage more of them, especially our newer members, to get involved and bring forward ideas that can make a difference.

Ultimately, it is not just about how much funding we secure or contribute, but about the people whose lives we touch and the difference we make in our communities.”

Captain Hamilton sent an appropriate letter of thanks and congratulation to DG Anton Lubbe.

Our Partnership: For the information of our newer members, the fight to end polio is led by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), which includes Rotary, UNICEF, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Gates Foundation, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and governments of the world, with the support of many others around the globe.

By working together we’ve immunized over 3 billion children in 122 countries – 99.9% of the goal achieved. Only Afghanistan and Pakistan remain endemic.

For decades, Rotary has embraced one of the world’s greatest humanitarian causes: helping to eradicate polio. In Angola, this mission also had faces, dedication, and memory.

The Rotary Club of Luanda honours this commitment and pays tribute to fellow Rotarian Manuel de Sousa, who represented the polio cause in the country during the decisive period of wild poliovirus eradication.  The pic above was taken on 24 October 2025 in Angola. His sudden passing stunned all who knew him. We salute you Manuel, you are legend!  RIP🙏❤🕊

Bev Frieslich our Golden Oldie and Rotary Stalwart!
Bev is one of a group of  hard working women who belong to the RC of the Cape of Good Hope. These Rotarians never miss a Rotary event. Bev is now moving to Port Alfred. You will be dearly missed Bev – you too, are legend! ❤
