100 years of Rotary in Portugal – Rotary Club of Lisbon Centenary

On January 23, 2026, we celebrate the Centenary of the Rotary Club of Lisbon, the first club founded in Portugal in 1926, and simultaneously the Rotary Centenary in Portugal. For a century, this club and all those following have featured stories of service, overcoming challenges and leaving their mark on local and global communities.🌟

• Since 1926, Rotary has been, in Portugal, a humanitarian service space for professionals and leaders committed to the Rotary purpose;
• Over 100 years, Portuguese clubs have responded to social crises, supported institutions, developed people and transformed communities;
• These years we participate in global campaigns and promote international dialogue, peace and understanding between peoples.

Legacy and future

The Rotary Club of Lisbon, as a pioneer, inspired the creation of dozens of clubs across the country, which today form an active network. This centennial is an opportunity to honor the legacy of those who came before us and to renew Rotary commitment, putting our personal and professional skills to service communities. This centenary is not just a celebration of the past, but above all an invitation for continuation of action in the future, strengthening the spirit of service, innovating in projects and expanding the impact on communities.
