International Peace Day – Rotary Club of Sea Point

Sue Truter represented the RCW at the Peace Pole Planting at Sea Point High School on Saturday 21 September 2024 (International Peace Day). Captain Mymoena was attending the RYLA Camp in Franschhoek. Many members were also overseas and away for the long weekend, Sue shared this feedback –

“The peace pole symbolises a commitment to global harmony. It was a beautiful day with many of the learners attending.  Besides the Rotary speeches, they were included in the program and sang their school song with gusto. Some learners had made origami doves that were in the greenery surrounding the peace pole.

All the speakers, including DG Stephen Young and PDG Ann Wright, mentioned that peace actually starts within you, how being mindful of others’ situations, starting each day with a smile, all helps spread the message of peace. Cooktastic delivered ‘peace cookies’ and packed sandwiches to conclude the function. Thanks to President Arifa Parkar and PP Farhat Danyal for the invitation to join them.”
