Another Sanlam Cape Town Marathon – Done and Dusted!

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon “A” Team – primary coordinators of the event

L-R Dirk, Spiro, Captain Mymoena and Piet (Project Leader).

Pieter Swart took centre stage at the meeting as he took crew through the logistics of the two-day events over the weekend of 19 and 20 October. Pieter shared that 21 500 runners had registered for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on Sunday. He also emphasised the critical importance of showcasing our competency of staging one of the major marathon events world-wide. The Events Coordinating Committee has worked with the marathon’s management for months to finalise a route fit for an Abbott World Marathon Majors race. What an achievement this would be for the Mother City! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A picture is worth a thousand words

These pics below convey the spirit, cameraderie and team work needed to host this important sporting event. Well done Pieter Swart, crew and all those who volunteered to marshal. Congratulations to South African long-distance runner Glenrose Xaba, who made a stunning debut at the Cape Town Marathon, shattering the national marathon record by over a minute (see pic below)👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
