Rotary members witness youth leadership in action at collaborative event
On Saturday, 30 August, Michelle, Kim, and I had the privilege of attending the Interact and Rotaract Colab Day hosted at Norman Henshilwood High School. It was more than just an event—it was a vibrant convergence of purpose, passion, and promise.

To stand among young people so deeply engaged in fellowship and service was to witness the heartbeat of a hopeful future. These learners are not waiting for change—they are becoming it. Their energy was electric, their ideas bold, and their commitment to community palpable.💡
Trafalgar High School learners showcase exceptional leadership potential

We were especially proud to see 26 learners from Trafalgar High School in attendance. Each one brought a spark—motivated, eager, and brimming with leadership potential. Their presence was a testament to the power of nurturing youth through opportunity and mentorship. One learner from L2L also joined us, and although others couldn’t attend due to the event being fully subscribed, their interest speaks volumes about the growing momentum of youth engagement.
The future of leadership is present in today’s youth gatherings
This gathering reminded us that the future of South Africa—and indeed the world—is not a distant horizon. It’s here, in classrooms and community halls, in conversations and collaborations. It’s in the eyes of every young person who dares to dream and serve.

Let us continue to create spaces where youth feel seen, heard, and empowered. Because when we invest in their growth, we invest in a legacy of leadership that will ripple far beyond our time.👏👏👏
New member Kim shares heartfelt first engagement experience
Comment from newbie Kim: “As my first engagement, I was not sure on what to expect, but as Tony’s message beautifully illustrates, I too was in awe of the commitment and involvement of these youngsters, out of their own will. It was beautiful to see their interactions, hear their ideas and thoughts, see the smiles and friendships being built while participating in something that they have chosen to participate in. It was heartwarming”.
