The Rotary Club of Waterfront is taking an important step to uplift vulnerable learners by providing essential stationery packs to two key institutions: Siyakhanyisa Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD) in Langa and the Cape Town Multi-Service Centre (CTMS) in Salt River. This initiative aligns with Rotary International’s commitment to Basic Education and Literacy, underscoring the Club’s dedication to fostering educational equity and empowerment.
Siyakhanyisa ECD plays a pivotal role in early childhood education, nurturing young minds during their most formative years. At the same time, CTMS provides stability and academic support to boys aged 7 to 16 who have faced challenges such as abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Both institutions serve communities where access to basic educational supplies is often limited, creating barriers to academic progress and self-confidence.
In response, the Rotary Club of Waterfront has approved R8,962 to fund 51 stationery packs, catering to Grade R, primary, and high school learners. These packs will equip children with the necessary tools to succeed academically while reinforcing Rotary’s active role in community development and upliftment.
Club members are warmly invited to participate in the handover event at Siyakhanyisa on 7 December. Those interested should coordinate with Piet Postema. Details for the handover at CTMS will be announced soon. Together, let’s continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of these young learners.
