On Friday, 6 June 2025, Salesians Institute hosted its annual Youth Projects Open Day, building on the foundation laid at the first Townhall meeting on 25 May 2023. The event brought together recruiters, small and medium business owners from retail, manufacturing, BPO services, and education sectors, alongside quality assurance representatives and officials from CPUT.
This annual gathering aims to foster a culture of “doing with” — promoting collaboration to avoid duplication of effort and resources. By actively onboarding the private sector and academia, Salesians Institute Youth Projects (SIYP) continuously aligns with evolving talent demands, nurturing a culture of life-long and life-wide learning.
A key highlight of the SIYP was a shift to online CVs of learners, providing recruiters and business owners direct access to a pool of talented, job-ready youth. This innovative approach further bridges the gap between education and employment, empowering young people to showcase their skills and connect with potential employers.
Together, these partnerships strengthen the development of skills and opportunities that prepare young people to become tomorrow’s leaders
