The latest Development in Dentistry

Our guest speaker on Friday was Dr Sean Botha, a 30-year-old dentist who practices in Claremont. Johann Gerber added that Sean is also a Rondebosch School old boy and that he was an accomplished rugby player.

Sean founded Harmonia Dentistry (Your Smile – Our Priority) which focuses on biomimetic restorative dentistry and implantology. Sean’s talk took dentistry to a whole new level!

Dr Botha is particularly interested in using biomimetic dentistry to change the way functional and aesthetic dentistry is practised in South Africa. Harmonia Dentistry which he founded, is where exceptional dental care meets artistry and innovation. Located in the heart of Cape Town, “our practice specializes in biomimetic and cosmetic dentistry, offering world-class treatments in a serene and beautifully designed environment”. A far cry from when, as children, many of us were incredibly fearful of dentists, recalling white knuckles as we gripped the chair at the sound of a dentist’s drill!😨

“Our team is dedicated to providing personalized care with a focus on both function and aesthetics, ensuring that each visit is as comfortable and rewarding as possible. We blend advanced technology with a gentle, patient-centered approach to help you achieve a healthy, radiant smile that reflects your unique beauty”.

AI-driven advancements and technology are transforming the future of Dentistry. In his practice he used a floating model using AI. Sean explained that every time a tooth was touched, it shortens the lifetime of the tooth. He also stressed the critical importance of oral hygiene. At the “root” of many dental problems was oral bacteria.

Chris Fick thanked Sean, saying, “In a time when much is being discussed about the great global reset—economically, financially, and politically—we have been introduced to the great dental reset this morning by Dr. Botha.”
