Peace Pole Project – Long Walk to Freedom Park ☮
In alignment with the ICC Peace Forum, the official unveiling of the Peace Pole will take place on April 27, 2025, at Long Walk to Freedom Park, Century City. Work begins next week, with Johan van Papendorp (landscape architect) and Piet Postema overseeing the layout before contractors start laying the kerbing and base.The Peace Pole will be supplied and installed by Bellville RC, while Newlands RC and Claremont RC have generously donated recycled plastic benches. Several olive trees have also been contributed to line the perimeter. This meaningful project is on track for completion before the official opening on April 28, 2025. Members are invited to take part or donate an olive tree to mark the occasion. 🌿☮
Glencairn Youth Camp
The obstacle course and the jungle gym project is underway and will hopefully be completed by the end of the month depending on the weather. The planting of the poles is to be done by the Camp using casual labour and the contractor will complete the work a week or two later. Pictures to follow. This is also a District Grant Project of RC Cape Town.
