A Project Born from Partnership: Janet Kriseman & Salesians Stitch Ahead
Working with Janet Kriseman is always a privilege, because of her intellect and tenacity to complete a project. She assisted conceptualise the shopping bag project in collabortion with the Salesians Stitch Ahead Sewing Programme to generate work and income for the participants. 240 Shopping bags are now ready for sale. Janet was in attendance at our meeting and had a marketing slot for the shopping bags.
More Than a Bag: Sustainable Solutions with Social Impact
“These high-quality, reusable, foldable and lightweight shopping bags are made from recycled plastic (rPET) by graduates of the Salesian Institute’s Stitch Ahead programme. The Salesian Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering disadvantaged and unemployed youth. Together with the support of the Rotary Club of Waterfront, these graduates have created a useful, sustainable product with a beneficial social and environmental impact.

• The bag is 45 cm by 40 cm when open flat.
• Lightweight, foldable, easy to store and carry in a handbag or pocket when not in use.
• Made from recycled plastic.
• Attached wide elastic band holds folded bag closed.
• 16 liters capacity, the same as a standard plastic grocery bag.
• Reinforced seams and double handle for strong and durable load bearing.

How to Purchase: Supporting the Cause
