Chopping for Change: Waterfront Rotary Joins Celebrity Chef for Mandela Day at Salesians

On Mandela Day, the Salesians Institute Youth Project and celebrity chef Jenny Morris invited individuals and organisations to spend just one hour giving their time and resources to help feed the less fortunate vegetables, and were joined by Rotarians from Waterfront Rotary Club to what they called “chop-chop for change” to peel and cut up the vegetables.

Generosity in Numbers: 10,400 Soups and 9,000 Sandwiches Distributed

Mandela Day should be every day — a daily call to action to serve, uplift, and build a future where no child or woman goes hungry. “Chis Fick sponsored the vegetables that were chopped up by crew and helpers at our table for the soup. Martin donated porridge and our staff (Chris Fick) also donated groceries, dog food and old clothes. In 2024 over 10 400 cups of soup and over 9000 sandwiches were distributed. We are still waiting for this year’s figures” writes Maryka, who coordinated our club’s efforts – a big task. To you and your team Maryka, well done. See pics below.
