Henry Mathys Inducted After 9 Years of Association

After an association of 9 years the induction of Henry Mathys as a full crew member! 🐬⚓ Siham introduced Henry: “I first met Henry back in 2017, when he responded to an email about reconnecting our club with the V&A. David Bradley had often spoken about the close connection between the club and the V&A historically and I had hoped we could rekindle that. Piet and June joined me at that first meeting and from the start, Henry was open and constructive.
Waterfront Canal Challenge: Building V&A Community Partnerships
One of those early conversations led to the creation of the Waterfront Canal Challenge, named so by Nadene. Our very first event drew over 200 swimmers and was Battery Park’s inaugural event, with Henry making sure we had medical, security, and cleaning covered. That support kept us afloat and set the tone for many collaborations that followed—youth orchestras, camps, and of course the V&A becoming our first corporate member.”
Official Induction Ceremony and Sailing Orders
Captain Tony followed Siham with the WRC induction process, reading the “Sailing Orders” for onboarding crew. Henry responded with visible gratitude for the warm welcome, happy to board RS (Rotary Ship) Waterfront as a full crew member. 👏👏

Milestone Celebration: 33 Years of Service with V&A Waterfront
The induction of Henry Mathys turned our 33rd anniversary into a milestone celebration, strengthening our relationship with the V&A Waterfront when we anchored RS (Rotary Ship) Waterfront. Spiro provided an excellent presentation on WCC 2026 on 11 April – the emphasis – “Green Jobs, Blue Waters and Bright Futures”, acknowledging our privileged partnership with the V&A Waterfront, with gratitude.
Club History: Cans for Cancer Project and Honorary Members

Honorary Member Lionel Daniel related the story of our Cans for Cancer Project, when we built a whole structure from donated cans in the Waterfront. Rain Badings was President at the time. Right, so great to have a visit from Honorary member Father Francois Dufour, with Liewe Heksie who won the prize for the best hat!🤣👒🎩
