30+ Years of Developing Future Leaders in Western Cape

This final event showcases the remarkable talent and passion for debate among students. For over three decades, the Rotary Inter-schools Debating Competition has been a vital platform for cultivating young minds and preparing future leaders in the Western Cape. From its humble beginnings in 1982 with just seven schools, this prestigious competition has expanded to include **50 schools across the Cape Peninsula. **Today, it plays a critical role in shaping students’ abilities to think critically, communicate effectively, and navigate the complexities of an ever-changing world.

Arbor Day Tree Planting Initiative: Indigenous Trees for Schools

ARBOR DAY🌳: Jaco advised that four schools would be involved in an indigenous tree planting event. Four teams were needed – one at each school. Arbor Day (week) is celebrated annually in South Africa from the 1st to the 7th of September. It is a special day observed all around the world to increase awareness about trees and the vital role and impact they have on our climate.

White Milkwood and Spekboom Planting for Heritage Day

The trees, sponsored by Rotary Club of Waterfront, are indigenous – White Milkwood trees (2025 tree of the year) and Spekboom. The tree planting is planned for Friday, 23 September in support of the DFFEs national greening programme;”One Million Trees” campaign, which also coinsides with Heritage Day on 24 September. 👏
