Rotaract Budapest’s Tom Lothar Fischer Shares Global Impact Projects

Tom Lothar Fischer (Rotaract Budapest) shared that he is in Cape Town for three months. The club consists of 20 aspiring young leaders, typically young professionals and students from both Hungary and all over the world, including members from Germany (me), Brazil, Philippines, Kazakhstan, Kenya, the Netherlands, Italy, and Ecuador.

“Our mission is to drive sustainable impact through service projects that tackle real-world challenges. At the same time, we see our project as an opportunity to unite communities in the country and across borders. Our work includes the No-Butts initiative and the Ukrainian School project. With the No-Butts project, we fight water pollution by collecting cigarette butts along the Danube River through organizing clean-up drives and raising awareness about environmental preservation. To date, we’ve collected over 150,000 cigarette butts, making Budapest’s waterways safer and cleaner.”

Tom will visit the club again soon.
