Otto Beyer was born in Brits (40 km west of Pretoria). He went to a Primary School in Pretoria, then to high school in Durban when his family his family moved.
“In those days dagga was against the law – now its called cannabis and is prescribed for about all ailments. It does not cure disease but just make the patient forget about complaints!”
Otto Beyer’s Career in Dentistry and Family Life
He studied dentistry in Pretoria where he met Lydia in1972. They married in 1976 and had three boys. Their eldest son is an actuary in London. The second son is a doctor in Durban and on his way to Canada. The youngest son studied construction management and is working in Johannesburg.
Otto Beyer specialized in Oral surgery in Pretoria and was in private practice for 33 years in his own practice. He closed down the business in 2019 and emigrated to Cape Town where Jan Buurman introduced him to the Rotary Club of Waterfront.
Transition to Cape Town and Rotary
Both he and Lydia (an oncologist), have been warmly embraced by crew, surrounded by friendship since joining.
It is their intention to add value wherever needed – to “Create Hope in the World“.
