On Friday, 27 June 2025, members of the Rotary Club of Waterfront gathered for the final business meeting of the Rotary year — a powerful moment of reflection, celebration, and gratitude. With pride and purpose, Captain Mymoena Ismail presented the Annual Performance Report for 2024/25, marking the close of a year defined by courageous leadership, meaningful collaboration, and Rotary magic.
Guided by the theme “The Magic of Rotary,” the club embraced the MAGIC framework: Membership, Action, Growth, Innovation, and Camaraderie — values that shaped every project, partnership, and person we touched.
Year of Impact: Highlights
Growing a Stronger, More Diverse Club

We welcomed new members from diverse backgrounds, strengthened ties with the V&A Waterfront and City of Cape Town, and expanded our global Rotary family through connections with clubs in Canada, Austria, Singapore, Uganda, and Reunion Island.
Empowering Youth & Communities
This year, our impact was felt across Cape Town and beyond. 100+ NEET youth graduated from SIYP with SETA-accredited qualifications. A borehole and food garden were launched at Christine Revell Children’s Home — a long-time partner. We helped with the management of the Glencairn Youth Camp, promoting outdoor education and leadership. Youth were uplifted through RYLA, the Inter-School Debating Competition, and Adventures into Citizenship.
Skills, Jobs & Innovation
In partnership with Salesians Youth Institute, we helped young people gain real-world skills and confidence. We bridged education and employment through business engagement. Mentored small businesses in partnership with the V&A Waterfront.
Peace and Sustainability

In collaboration with the D9350 team, we celebrated the planting of a Peace Pole, reaffirming our Peacebuilder Club status. Our environmental global grant with the Sugarbird Trust was completed successfully — protecting biodiversity and deepening our sustainability work.
Fellowship and Club Culture
Rotary is also about connection. Fireside chats, Thirsty Thursdays, the Women’s Day Lunch, and a Mountain Manor Braai brought us together in friendship and purpose.
Sustaining Our Impact: Fundraising That Fuels Impact
Thanks to your support, we kept our work going strong: The Waterfront Canal Challenge drew swimmers and sponsors — and raised vital funds. The Wenhold Trust made a generous donation that boosted our ability to serve. Our participation in the Cape Town Marathon and Cycle Tour added further fundraising success.
Making Our Voice Heard
Our weekly bulletin, The BARK, became more than just a newsletter — it was a tool for alignment, transparency, and celebration. Through LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X, we built a strong digital presence and told the Rotary story widely and well.
With Gratitude to an Exceptional Crew
Captain Mymoena closed the meeting with heartfelt thanks:
“This year was a testament to what’s possible when purpose meets passion. Our collective efforts brought visibility, hope, and opportunity to many — and joy to ourselves as Rotarians. I thank each of you for making this year exceptional. You are the heartbeat of this club.”
