Elevating Rotary Communications: A District-Wide Learning Opportunity
For anyone wanting to improve their communication and PI skills, this workshop was a winner. Brilliantly organised by PDG Ann Wright (District PI Chair), Elenore Baiocchi (President of the RC of Strand) and team, every session was a leaning curve as we were taken through various components of the programme learning “How to strengthen your club’s brand”. Each break out session was facilitated by knowledgeable, experienced Rotarians who shared their expertise with precision.
Over 40 Rotarians from approximately 20 other clubs attended. The workshop also was a great opportunity for fellowship. Below L-R Paul Stohrer RC Kirstenbosch), Stephan Lombard (a facilitator) – RC Oostenberg) and Wilma Maartens (President – RC Oostenberg), June and Tony in their new RCW branded hoodies.

The importance of protecting the Rotary Brand
The Rotary gearwheel is one of the most familiar symbols in the world today. The Rotary emblem together with the name Rotary International and other โmarksโ such as Service Above Self, Interact, PolioPlus and others are registered trademarks and belong to Rotary International. Districts and Clubs are welcome to use the Rotary trademarks subject to the guidelines set out in the RI Code of policies Article 34 Rotary Marks. Donavan van Eerden kicked off the plenary session emphasising the importance of protecting the Rotary Brand.
Digital Strategy breakout – President Elenore Baiocchi

Rotary Cclub of Waterfront can feel proud of its Digital Strategy that has morphed over the last two years under the leadership of Mymoena Ismail which places the club well on track in line with the above suggested strategy to increase our impact, verified by reliable consistent data capture. ๐๐๐

This session was really worthwhile. Some useful tips from the slides below.

Communication using a PRESS RELEASE – PDG Ann Wright
PDG Ann shared that Story telling is critical to expanding our REACH. Sharing our stories in the press and on social media is vital. If we donโt get it right 1st time, an editor will often dismiss subsequent submissions. Build a relationship with the media in your area/town. All under financial pressure and very short of advertisements which dictates space availability.
In summary, it was a long morning. We left at 7 am and got back to Cape Town at 2:30 pm due to road works (venue – Bundles of Joy ECD School in Macassar). Every minute was worth it, not only to learn and grow, but to meet other Rotarians from many clubs. Big thanks to PDG Ann Wright and her team for an incredibly inspiring workshop.
